Our Own Okie Family from Muskogee

After spending three days, plus the week-end, to have our second compressor for our coach air installed, we finally were ready to leave Bloomington, Illinois -- AGAIN.  One thing I can say about Crosspoint Cummins is they work very hard and spend many hours to get the job done.  Rick and Kevin are the two who work mainly on motorhomes and there were 31 motorhomes in various phases of repair.  They said it's hard to find qualified employees.  Therefore, if anyone knows someone who wants to work, who doesn't mind getting dirty, working hard and oftentimes putting in long hours to and takes pride in their work, who lives in the Bloomington-Normal area, please send them to Cummins.  These guys could use a break:)  The good thing about being at Cummins for five days is we didn't have to pay campground fees or buy gas.  That being said, we were definitely ready to get back on the road.

We left Thursday morning, July 15, driving south and then west.  We stopped for the night at a small, quiet campground in Cuba, Missouri.  It was the first time we used our Escapees membership for a 15% discount.  The campground was Ladybug RV Park and is a 1/4 mile off I-44 at Exit 203.  If you were outside, you could hear a slight rumble of the traffic on I-44, but inside, we heard nothing.  With our 15% discount, we paid $21.50 for full hookups and 50 amp service.  It was 99 degrees when we stopped for the night.  This park had good reviews on rvparkreviews.com, but, as we have learned, you cannot believe everything you read, but we were pleased with our choice of Ladybug RV Park.

We even took a dip in the inviting pool.

The Gazebo overlooking the pool where we saw hummingbirds.

After a very restful night, we were up and on the road at 8:00 a.m.  Our goal today:  To make it to Muskogee, Oklahoma.

We drove seven hours, stopping only for gas and food, and arrived at the Crossroads RV Park on Hwy 69 around three o'clock.  Our son, Adam -- Josh to most -- had scouted out the campgrounds in the area and he felt this park overall was the best.  The owner certainly was nice and very accommodating.  It was right on the highway, but we did not hear the traffic, but man, was it H-O-T.  Not much to the campground, but it was clean and graveled, level parking with restrooms/shower, laundry and even a storm shelter.  The cost was $18 a night for full hookups and 50 amp power.

We came to Muskogee to visit and attend the wedding of Adam (Josh) and Amanda -- a blended family with five kiddos -- Mason (16), Kourtland (14), Holdan (10), Morgan (8) and Rhyan (7) and three dogs:  two Rotweilers, Sophie and Bear, and Dachshund, Meg.  The wedding was held in their backyard.

We have always referred to Josh as Adam -- our own Okie from Muskogee.    He was called Adam until he was nine or ten and then he informed us he wanted to be called Josh -- apparently, it was cooler to be known as Josh.  His name is Joshua Adam, but he will always be Adam to us.  He is an offensive line coach for Muskogee High School Roughers and teaches Drivers' Ed and will teach computer classes this fall.  Amanda teaches special-education classes and will teach all subjects this fall at  Muskogee High  School.  She recently completed  her Masters in Health and Kinesiology and plans on  working towards her Doctorate soon.  Adam is looking forward to starting his  Masters in Sports Admin.

Adam and Amanda bought a house -- built in 1920 and recently renovated, it has five bedrooms and two baths.

And there is a wonderful backyard for the kids.

We went out for pizza and the kids got mustaches.

We enjoyed having them over, playing Wii and just acting silly.  They put us to shame with their Wii skills:(

As we bid farewell -- see you later -- to our Okie Family from Muskogee, we pray that as Adam and Amanda begin their life together, it will be filled with love and happiness FOREVER.

I know I keep saying how blessed we are to be able to have this opportunity, but it has never been more true than now.  Alan and I both worked hard for years -- and Alan worked six and seven days a week for many years.  As a result, we missed out on seeing our children/grandchildren.  We are half-way through 2010 and we have now seen & visited with all our kids and grandkids, so we feel even more blessed.  We even drove to Greenwood, Arkansas, to see Evelyn, Alan's sister, and had a wonderful visit.

We plan to continue our journey by heading to Wyoming, where we hope to find cooler weather.   I have a dear friend, Melissa, who lives in Jackson and we hope to visit her and her great family.

In the meantime, may God continue to bless our voyage, as well as our family and friends, wherever they may be.
