In Honor of My Mom

Today would've been my Mother's 86th birthday.

"Her children arise and call her blessed..."  Proverbs 31:28
She passed in 1996 at the age of 71 with breast cancer.  In February 1995, at the age of 69, she suffered a heart attack and had triple bypass surgery.  In May of the same year, she discovered a lump in her breast, so we were back in the hospital on Memorial Day weekend to have her left breast removed.  It was Stage IV cancer.  She wanted to try chemo and radiation, but the doctor told us he would not give her anything so strong that would make her sick and/or cause her to lose her hair.  Thus, the cancer spread to her bone and she broke her left arm and her left thigh before she passed on October 26, 1996, at the age of 71.

My Mom was an inspiration and a joy to be around -- always smiling and never had a bad word to say about anyone.  When I had a problem, she would always tell me to pray and to have faith.  It took me many years to understand what she meant by "praying and having faith," but I finally got it...she was right -- praying and having faith that things will work out is very important, especially in today's world.  I still miss her every day, but I am thankful I know I will see her again one day.

This is our only 4-generation pic...the baby is now 19 -- LOL!

God bless all the Mothers out there -- may you have a blessed Mother's Day!
